Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta are going into the record books for the Arizona Coyotes. They became the first goalie tandem to record a shut out in consecutive games.

Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta have been great all season. The two goalies have turned heads around the league, and are helping make the Coyotes one of the best teams in the NHL.

Arizona is truly blessed with Raanta and Kuemper. We recently talked about all Kuemper does to make the Coyotes great, things that go beyond just stopping the puck. Well, the same is true for Antti Raanta.

The two goalies are even getting noticed around the league. NHL Network’s very own Kevin Weekes recently released his top 5 goalie tandems in the NHL. Raanta and Kuemper made an appearance on the list.

However, the top 5 goalie tandems came out before what happened last night. When Coyotes goaltender Antti Raanta backstopped the team to their second win in a shut out fashion. With that win, the Coyotes had something to add to the franchise record book.

The play of Raanta and Kuemper are big reasons the team finds themselves just one point behind the division-leading Edmonton Oilers. The last two games against divisional opponents helped push them towards the top of the division.

Kuemper started things off strong on Saturday against the Calgary Flames when he stopped all 37 shots he faced against the Flames. He made some spectacular saves to backstop the team to a shut out win, and Raanta did the same last night making 31 saves.

Arizona has had a lot of leaders through the first quarter of the season, but two players stand out from the rest. The two goaltenders have been incredible in every game they have played in, and honestly, have been the first star of the game in most games this season.

It is fun watching the Coyotes goaltenders help steal games from opponents compared to us running into a hot goaltender. Hopefully, Raanta and Kuemper can continue to tear up the league and become the best goaltending duo in the NHL.
