The Arizona Coyotes are in the playoff hunt as of right now. The Coyotes, led by John Chayka at GM, went out and added a player that can certainly help lead them to the playoffs early this week when they added Taylor Hall. Hall is a player that can make an impact on more than just the stat sheet.

Patrick Kane or Sidney Crosby always finds a way to make teams better. How they play enables teams to rely on their star players while also using them to make the people around them that much better. Adding Taylor Hall to the lineup really makes an impact on the rest of the team for one reason only, depth.

The Arizona Coyotes opponents really have to pick their poison when it comes to who to defend against in-game. Not every team has 3 shut down pairings on their blue line, most just have 2 solid guys they rely on in their own end.

For the Arizona Coyotes, their advantage on offense comes with how many different options they have.  The Coyotes can consistently have threats like Taylor Hall, Nick Schmaltz, Phil Kessel, and Conor Garland on the ice.

Just take a look at the lineup with Taylor Hall:

Clayton KellerCarl Soderberg – Nick Schmaltz

Michael GrabnerBrad Richardson – Conor Garland

I don’t know which of the top two lines I would try and target if I was an opponent, and I think the Coyotes plan to use that to their advantage. Not to discredit Conor Garland, but look at his position in the lineup.

Garland is playing on the fourth line and currently leads the team in goals. Maybe one reason for Garland’s increased scoring this season is he is playing against the opponent’s less-skilled players. A player like Taylor Hall is going to demand the best out of an opponent, this should open up scoring for a player like Garland or Hinostroza.

Obviously things are still early for the marriage of Hall and Yotes, but as of right now things are looking pretty bright. We need to give the team some time before the special teams can really adapt to Taylor Hall and what he brings to the table.
