With the new year finally upon us, we at Howlin’ Hockey want to continue to bring you the best possible Arizona Coyotes coverage we can. So to help with the process the Morning Howl Report is back to stay!
The Arizona Coyotes have a lot of news to talk about. We have a win, an all-star selection, and so much more on the plate today in our Howl Report! Today is January 1st, 2020! So let’s jump right in with it.
What a win last night on New Year’s Eve for the Arizona Coyotes. The ‘Yotes managed to finally get a win at home against the defending Stanley Cup Champs at that. It is not like the Coyotes just beat a bad team. The Blues were 26-8-6 going into the game last night against Arizona, and we managed to add a game to the loss column for the Blues, in large part thanks to a great game by Antti Raanta.
Antti Raanta really showed up in a big way last night against the Blues. Although the scoreboard said 2-1 with a minute to go in the game that was not the final story. Arizona had been drastically outshot by the Blues, and if it was not for Raanta making some big saves win the team needed them we might not have walked away with a win at all.
The Arizona Coyotes have one player selected to the all-star game this month. Darcy Kuemper has been selected to represent the team at the game, and while I am excited to see Kuemper play I wonder if anyone else deserved a spot as well. When you consider where the Coyotes are in the standings they definitely deserve more than one player to represent their franchise. (Five for Howling)
I love how sometimes when a team loses they focus less on the game and more on the past. If you lose acknowledge you lost, and move on from it. Rather we are hearing about how much Clayton Keller loved seeing the Blues win the Stanley Cup. (STL Today) To be fair they did go on to write about how the team ended a year on a bad note, pun intended.
Arizona is now back in second place within the drastically changing Pacific Division. Things are going to be chaotic until April, so buckle up Coyotes fans! Next up on our list is the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday!
