The Arizona Coyotes have a big game tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers at home, and getting a win is imperative.

Arizona currently is in the middle of a big playoff race with the Pacific Division. The top 5 teams in the division are separated by just 5 points, so there is very little margin for error. If you lose two unfortunate games then you could find yourself on the outside looking in. That is why every game matters so much for this team to win.

Arizona will face off tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers, a team that has been struggling as of late. The Flyers are 5-5 in their last 10 games and are currently on a two-game losing streak. Both teams will have had a day off before playing tonight’s game so expect these two teams to be well-rested.

We need these points now more than ever. When you look at the standings no team has been better in the Pacific then Vancouver as of late. They have gone from being towards the bottom of the standings to a team that is just 2 points behind us. They can thank a 6 game win streak for that turnaround, and we can only hope we get a win tonight!

Puck drop is not till 6 o’clock tonight, so to get you ready for the game we have your three keys to the game for the Coyotes to get a win!

Three Keys to the game Philadelphia Flyers

1 Start early and get the first goal

I have not seen a team yet that thrives on giving up the first goal, so try and get the first one. When you look at the Flyers stats, one thing that really stands out to me is they are 7-8-3 when giving up the first goal.

I know it does not seem like much of a key, but starting on time is important. Arizona is at home with a day off in-between games, so they will be well-rested, I just hope they had a good practice yesterday and are ready to play tonight against Carter Hart and the Flyers.

2 Get in front of the net on offense

No matter who is in net tonight, Carter Hart or Brian Elliott, both goalies are capable of stealing a game. The Flyers have given up a below-average amount of goals this season, so getting in front of the net and disrupting their defenseman will be critical to getting a win. I think the key to the Coyotes tonight will be having a net-front presence, as well as playing below the goal line in the offensive zone.

Arizona has been finding ways to get the puck in the slot the last few games, I want that to continue against the Flyers, and I think the best way to do that is to get the Flyers goalie to move horizontally in the crease and keep him guessing.

3 Limit scoring chances by getting in front of the puck

22-year-old Travis Konecny has 34 points this season, although he leads the team there are plenty of Flyers who have factored in on the score sheet. Arizona needs to make sure they limit the scoring opportunities of the Flyers.

The best way to limit scoring chances is to get in front of the puck as it is coming towards the net. Something else I hope the Coyotes do in their own end really attacks the puck. Instead of waiting for a player to come to them I want the Coyotes to go out and put pressure on the Flyers on offense.
