The Arizona Coyotes are destined to play in an outdoor game eventually right? When you look around the league new teams are getting outdoor games at an awesome rate for the fans.

The Minnesota Wild were given the next NHL Winter Classic, and we all are very excited for them. They have not participated in the event yet, and I know they will enjoy it. Recently our friends at Gone Puck Wild had a piece about why your team should play in the next winter classic. We participated in the event so make sure you check it out!

It raised a question for me. Who would the Coyotes play in a potential outdoor game in the future? Arizona needs all the help they can get to get views in a potential outdoor game, so the game would probably have to involve one of the big major markets in the US.

The Coyotes are going to move to the Central Division very soon. That makes me think that the Coyotes should play a central division team in their hypothetical outdoor game. Minnesota would offer a very fun time next season, that matchup could work. Another team I think the Coyotes should play resides in Canada.

The Arizona Coyotes were once the Winnipeg Jets, and wouldn’t it be fun for the two teams to compete again outdoors? I think this game would ignite the rivalry between these two franchises and only get fans excited for the future.

Another potential opponent has already played in a slew of outdoor games. The Chicago Blackhawks cross all the checkmarks as to a team the Coyotes should play outdoors. The two teams have a lot of trades amongst each other so there is plenty of players with history in both organizations. The game would also feature two teams that are going to be seeing a lot of each other in the future within the Central Division. Chicago is also a big market city that thrives in these types of events.

I believe the Arizona Coyotes are on the right path to get an outdoor game in the future. The current state of the franchise is great thanks to new leadership, a wonderful GM, and an amazing roster. Here is to the Coyotes getting more coverage league-wide within the future. It all starts with a playoff run this spring!
