Vinnie Hinostroza has taken a step back this season for the Arizona Coyotes, but how much will that impact his All-Star Break Grade?

Vinnie Hinostroza did not start off the season right. He did not score a goal since November, and since then he has only potted the puck 3 other times all year. His goal-scoring ability is certainly not showing up after last season’s 16 goal effort.

Hinostroza and the Coyotes have a long way to go this season. While I don’t see Hinostroza turning things around by the end of the season, I do think the Coyotes can. Arizona has faltered recently, but hey they still have 3 months left to make the playoffs.

One way the Coyotes will succeed is by getting depth scoring from their bottom 6. I do believe that Hinostroza deserves a role in the top 6, but he still should succeed. Hinostroza should be scoring goals no matter who he is playing with. How much he scores might impact what kind of contract Vinnie gets next season.

I am totally for the Coyotes re-signing Hinostroza at the end of the season, but at the same time if he fails to elevate his game soon I would rather see the team trade him before the deadline. John Chayka and the Coyotes might be able to add a talented asset for Hinostroza and a draft pick.

For Vinnie Hinostroza’s play so far this season I think he has earned a D+ rating. I know Vinnie might be suffering due to playing with some of the teams more defensive players, and that he is only starting in the offensive zone 41.1% of the time, but I still think he should be putting up more points.

The only way Hinostroza can get more points this season is if the Coyotes give him so more time. Right now he is only playing about 13 minutes a night, that is not enough to put up consistent numbers. Hopefully, by the end of the season, he will be able to put up his 100th point! He is just 5 points away!
