Jakob Chychrun and the Arizona Coyotes have only been together for just a few seasons, and yet he has very quickly become an intricate part of this team.

This is Jakob Chychrun‘s fourth season with the Arizona Coyotes. The 21-year-old is set to have a career year with the Coyotes this season. Chychrun is already 1 point away from tying his career-high at 20 points, and he has already scored more goals this season at 10.

No defenseman has more goals this season than Chychrun. The next best goal total comes from the captain, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, at 6 goals this season. Chrychrun is also third on the team on time on ice behind only Alex Goligoski and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

One of the brightest things about the Coyotes future is looking at Chychrun. He is only 21 years old and he is already in our top 4. I would love to see him break into the top defensive pair in the future, but at the same time, all 3 defensive pairings in Arizona are really elite. Just check out this play by Chychrun against St. Louis.

Chychrun did everything he could to try and get the puck into the net on this play. He did a great job shielding the puck from a few of the Blues defenders, and he made a great pass to get the puck in the slot. I honestly hope to see Chychrun a lot more in the second half of the season.

The Coyotes still have 30 games left this season, and now is the time for the Coyotes to step up. That starts with Chychrun. It is not all flowers and rainbows for Chychrun though, he can step up a lot more. He has 28 penalty minutes this season, while penalty minutes are not the most important stat in the world, it does still make a difference.

The Coyotes have taken way to many penalties as of late, and if they want to win they can’t keep getting stuck in the box, which starts with Chychrun. For his play so far this season Chychrun has earned a B+ rating. Only time will tell if he can get a higher rating at the end of the season!
