The Arizona Coyotes are going to have to put in the work the next few weeks if they are to stay in a playoff position towards the end of the season. While the team plays Anaheim tonight, and the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday what comes next is what will prove challenging.

After the Arizona Coyotes next two games, their next 4 games come against teams that are competing for playoff positioning. Those games are going to be very tough for the Coyotes, let’s break it down.

They will play the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. While the Blackhawks are not in the playoffs right now, they are one of the hottest teams in the league since January began and have been getting production from their two top players, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

After facing off against Chicago on Saturday they will have a few days to rest and recharge before hosting the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. Edmonton is another team that is getting production from their top guys in McDavid and Draisaitl. This game is very important because it comes against one of the teams the Coyotes are competing with for the playoff spots the Pacific Division has. Edmonton is another team that has struggled a little recently like the Coyotes so this game will be a four-point swing for whoever wins.

After that things will not get any easier for the Coyotes. They will host the Carolina Hurricanes next Thursday and then will travel to Boston on February 8th. I know we are looking maybe too far down the line, but at the same time, these next couple weeks of games are going to be what John Chayka does at the trade deadline.

The unknown is one of the hardest parts of being in this position, the fact that the Coyotes don’t know where they are going to be in the standings hurts. However, it is nice knowing we have a chance. The Coyotes have not made the playoffs for such a long time, so the fact that we actually have a chance this season is a plus in my eyes. Let’s get this winning spree back on track!
