The Arizona Coyotes lines might need a tweak to succeed

The Arizona Coyotes have been struggling as of late. Going into last night they had lost 5 out of their last 7 games, that is not a recipe for success this time of the year.

This was when the Coyotes were supposed to hit their stride, now it looks like all they have hit is a brick wall. Sometimes a momentum shakeup is needed to change the direction of a hockey team, one way to do that is by shaking up the lines.

The Coyotes have looked anything but great as of late. While I like seeing the team score goals I do not like how many goals they are giving up along the way. Maybe there is a quick fix for the Coyotes, and if it something as simple as line combinations then let’s hope they change things up soon.

I like what the Coyotes lines look like right now, but the honest answer is it is not getting the team wins. Maybe the Coyotes need to focus less on scoring and more on defense. Hopefully, our lines will help highlight the changes the Coyotes need to make.

Our Arizona Coyotes Line Combinations:

Lawson CrouseNick SchmaltzTaylor Hall

I really like the potential of this line right here. Having players like Hall and Schmaltz together to try and set each other up will only give the Coyotes more options. This team needs to try and create plays around Hall.

Schmaltz and Hall can try and pass the puck back and forth, while Crouse can play his style of physical hockey. Having Crouse on this line opens things up a little more for Schmaltz and Hall, it also offers the two a physical presence in front of the net.

Clayton KellerChristian DvorakPhil Kessel

Honestly, I am debating between moving Kessel down one line. Kessel just has not been that great this season, however, maybe playing him with talented players like Dvorak and Keller will open things up.

I would expect these players to play a really quick transition game, with no turnovers in the neutral zone. I would really like to see the Coyotes toss this line out there sometime. I would expect some goals from them off the rush and on three on twos. We need our most talented players delivering now.

Christian FischerDerek StepanVinnie Hinostroza

I originally had Garland where Fischer was on this line, but I figured if the Coyotes are really going to shake things up they are going to need a fresh face in the top 9. Christian Fischer can really be something if the Coyotes give him more ice time.

I would expect these three to play great in their own end, as well as generate scoring chances in the offensive zone. The Coyotes could put Fischer down low below the goal line, with Stepan by the net and Hinostroza circling around the open ice. I really think this line could generate some goals while also keeping the puck out of the Coyotes net.

Michael GrabnerCarl SoderbergConor Garland

More from Howlin' Hockey

This fourth line is just as good as any of the Coyotes’ other lines. You still have Soderberg and Garland to help score goals, and you have Grabner around to help generate a physical presence. I really like this line combination as I believe it will give the team a more equal presence.

I don’t know if the team will do any of these lines, but I do think it will spread out the wealth a little better in Arizona! What did you think of our lines, and what would you recommend the Coyotes do to change their current fate?
