The Arizona Coyotes need to take things one game at a time if they are going to push for the playoffs, and that is alright.
One of my old coaches used to always stress the importance of taking things one play at a time before our games, and I think the same is true for the Arizona Coyotes right now. The Arizona Coyotes have an uphill battle to make the playoffs, and hey that is alright because they are still in the battle for the playoffs.
We are lucky to still be in a playoff position based on the past two months we have had, but from now on we need to simplify and start to take things slower. I started to think that the Coyotes should take this one game at a time, and while that is true I think it is even more simplistic than that.
The Arizona Coyotes need to approach each individual shift like their playoff hopes are on the line. I do not care what the scoreboard says or whether or not the Coyotes currently sit with a lead int he playoffs standings, I want to see this team go out each and every shift and play to the best of their ability.

We saw that kind of effort last game, and we came away with a win against the Washington Capitals because of it. Let’s keep that kind of energy and simplistic play moving forward. While the scoreboard does matter, the next board battle or faceoff matters even more.
Our next five games come against teams in the playoffs. While that might sound kind of daunting, let’s try and remember that the Coyotes beat one of the top teams in the league, the Capitals, right after losing to one of the worst teams in the league in the Ottawa Senators. Hockey just does not make sense sometimes.
I would like to think that the Arizona Coyotes are going to win all of their next five games, but that just might not be the case. We have struggled recently, and playing the Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues on back to back nights is not going to be easy. Let’s see what this team is made of this week!
