The Arizona Coyotes got a big win last night against the Buffalo Sabres in what started to be a lost game after the first period.
The Arizona Coyotes had their backs against the wall after the first period. Although they played an alright first period they still found themselves down 2-0 in the standings thanks to two goals by the Sabres in almost two minutes on the ice.
The Coyotes managed to strike back thanks to Clayton Keller and the Coyotes. Whenever the Coyotes are wearing the Katchina Jerseys they always seem to find another level, and they sure did last night. Keller and Jordan Oesterle worked together on the team’s first goal in what showcased just how important it is to go to the net in the offensive zone.
The Coyotes’ first two goals were textbook. Get to the net and good things will happen. The offense had a lot of great players last night. Clayton Keller had three points, including two goals, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Jordan Oesterle each put up a goal and an assist, while Phil Kessel helped out by tallying a goal himself which happened to tie the game up at two.

The Coyotes could have gone away after giving up two goals in the first period. They did not do that. They showed resilience and battled back to help give the Coyotes a shot in the standings, something a loss against the Florida Panther last week did not help with.
Arizona needs every win from here on out, so coming away with a big win against the Buffalo Sabres is going to be huge in setting up their next match against the Vancouver Canucks later this week.
A divisional rival is going to show up extra ready to play, so finding a way to get on top against the Vancouver Canucks needs to be front and center for the Coyotes. I would recommend not going down 2-0 after the first period, but hey I would have said that about last night’s game too and look at how that turned out.
