It may not have been done with a win, but Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan collects his 900th career point in his NHL career.

If you were to ask Shane Doan if he was overjoyed about getting his 900th career point, he may have replied how it would have been much better to have won the game instead.

His team played poorly by getting outshot (43-23), but yet were still in the game in the third period tied 3-3.

Kyle Chipchura

made sure of that by scoring his first goal of the new season to knot the score. But, this game was dominated by the Bruins pretty much for the entire contest.

The Arizona Coyotes defense was not at its best, and they certainly didn’t keep the Bruins bottled up, allowing at one point 33 shots to their meager 10. Toby Rieder also scored his third goal of this young season, a definite bright spot for the team. Reider is getting quality chances, as he did last season, but this time he is cashing in on them.

The bright spots were Shane Doan recording not only his 900th career NHL point, but two more for good measure. His goal was a typical Doan goalmouth scramble where he was able to get it by the Bruins net-minder, Tuukka Rask.

The goal was the second goal which was challenged by a coach this season for the Desert Dogs. Dave Tippett challenged a goal due to goaltender interference and Boston coach Claude Julien did likewise on this goal. The goal was good, as Joe Vitale was pushed into the crease, causing the interference.

Near the end of the second period Shane Doan had a golden opportunity to score into a virtually open net when Rask wondered away from his crease. Doan had to hurry his shot, and it went wide. He is very rough on himself, and kept shaking his head on the bench when all his teammates had left the bench area. That is what kind of competitor he is. Now,  would that have changed the complexity of the game at the time? Yes. And Shane knows that.
