The Arizona Coyotes faced the Chicago Blackhawks on the back end of a back-to-back Tuesday night.
The Arizona Coyotes were on the ice at the United Center in Chicago on Tuesday.
Their play didn’t reflect much of a pulse beyond the first period, however.
Mike Smith wasn’t quite on his game, nor was the defense in front of him.
Even while missing stars like Jonathan Toews and Corey Crawford, the outcome was never really in doubt for the Blackhawks.
The first period looked like it might be a sign of bounce back game for Arizona. At least, it did until Artem Anisimov scored late in the period.
Once the boys took the ice in the second period, things begin to slide downhill in a hurry.
Marian Hossa scored two goals and Dennis Rasmussen also had another to pile on in the Chicago victory.
Blackhawks win, 4-0.
Arizona Coyotes Player of the Game
Dave Tippett finally lost his cool on the team after Hossa and Rasmussen scored 19 seconds apart in the second period.
He gets the player of the game because outside of his fiery speech, Brendan Perlini, and perhaps Michael Stone, the majority of the Yotes seemed like they’d rather be elsewhere.
The View From The 200 Level
Man, these games are getting downright painful to write about.
That says nothing of watching the carnage in the stands or on TV.

Watching the Chicago Blackhawks and other teams throughout the season skate the puck into the offensive zone on us repeatedly is so frustrating as an Arizona Coyotes fan.
If you watch throughout any given night, you’ll see Coyotes forwards and defensemen with clear lanes to skate the puck through the neutral zone and even into the offensive zone in a similar manner.
That’s not what they do, though. Instead they try high risk stretch passes and employ an archaic dump and chase strategy that just doesn’t mesh with the personnel they have on the roster.
It’s the definition of having an easy lay-up and passing it back out for a contested mid-range jumpshot.
Tipp did deliver a fiery speech tonight which was definitely warranted.
Unfortunately, it fell flat.
The team didn’t respond. I don’t know what that says about him or what it says about the players, or perhaps it says something about both…whatever it is, it’s not good.
