As noted in yesterdays post about rumor that the Coyotes had infact signed Lee Stempniak it later came out that he did infact sign a two-year deal with the team.
According to Jim Gintonio over at The Arizona Republic Stempniak has claimed to have unfinished business.
“We took that first step to get into the playoffs, and now we want to get there again and go further, and ultimately win the Stanley Cup.”
We are one step closer to the start of the 2010-11 NHL regular season. This is the last Monday of August…
Frist I’d like to thank you all for reading over the summer when hockey is not a top headline for most. More proof that hockey really does belong in the desert!
Second I want to appologize for my vacation last week and not having anything ready to go for you to read. Last week was pretty much Birthday Week. If you follow my personal Twitter you may have seen some random pictures and comments from traveling around the state of Michigan from Detroit to Frankenmuth to celebrate my daughters turning 2 and 3. Yes they are young and probably really wont remember much seeing as how my oldest ONLY asked for hockey skates (and gloves) for her birthday.
Now here are some points of interes:
Report about an hour ago from Dan Rosen on NHL.com is that Lee Stempniak has found a deal he likes…. Full Story
Good Morning Coyote fans. It’s that time of the week again where the weekend is now behind us and we step into the unknown of another work week.
In case you’ve missed it:
The guys over at Puck Daddyhave been running the Mount Puckmore series and the Phoenix Coyotes article (written by Jordan Ellel from Five for Howling) was revealed. Who do you think the four faces of the Coyotes were? Be sure to check out the Mount Puckmore Phoenix Coyotes edition to find out who was chosen.
Like always James O’Brien over at ProHockeyTalk on NBCis alawys on top of the latest developments. Probably my favorite piece of the weekend (and a good example of why ALL hockey fans should have a Twitter account) is that St. Louis Blues tough guyCam Janssen called out Dallas’ Krys Barch. You just have to read it to believe it.
Stealing my thunder as the coolest of the cool in hockey bloggers (okay so I made that up for myself) Phoenix Coyotes own Adrian Aucoin has started up Aucion’s Blog. If you want to get into the mind of one of your beloved Coyotes’ head I recommend. I do not know how often he will post but I am sure book marking it will be well worth it.
If you have then you are lucky that the internet has made players a lot more accessable.
Many players are reaching out to fans on blogs and Twitter; and now Phoenix Coyotes own Adrian Aucoin has made a post on his blog where he talks about his summer with family, shares his thoughts on the changes to the line up in Phoenix, and his take on the ownership drama.
Announced this week by Mike Nealy, Phoenix Coyotes Chief Operating Officer, the Coyotes Charities will be offering a chance at a $10,000 grant to the local area non-profit organizations and your hockey associations.
The grant would funded via a ticket sales fundraising program.
All partnering organizations will be able to sell the tickets at a discounted rate from the gate price. In addition, the organizations will be able to keep the difference between the discounted price and the gate price as a fundraiser, meaning all participating organizations will benefit from the program
The grant will be given to the local organization that helps sell the most Coyotes game tickets for the 2010-11 regular season.
My thoughts:
I kind of like the idea. Sure the Coyotes get the best deal in it; because they are going to have more tickets that are at least sold. I think this will work towards embding the team more into the community; hopefully the ownership and all of the associated drama is solved soon that will also make a huge difference in developing a strong fan base.
The next challenge for the team is to now get the people that bought the tickets to fill those seats during the games.
If I was in the Phoenix area and was working with a local non-profit (which I have experience with non-profits – I even have been a fundraising chair) I would jump on this.
The team had a great year last year and I do not think it was just some fluke. They have made some good acquisitions this summer – especially with Ray Whitney coming on. I am still a huge fan of Sami Lepistö (if you do not know my story about him and the Caps I will fill you in some other time) even if a lot of my hometown Michigan readers do not like him because of what he did in the playoffs.
Web hosting can be a hassle. There’s no way to precisely project
incoming traffic, for starters. Also, if your server gets rocked by an
influx of traffic or is for some reason experiencing technical
difficulties, you want someone you can get in touch with no matter the
time of day. Easier said than done, because even in the age of cell
phones, texting, Twitter and Facebook, it can be hard to track down
family and friends, let alone the help at your hosting company.
Fortunately, we here at FanSided haven’t had those problems since we
started working with exclusively with the good folks at

Site5. In fact, we were almost
growing faster than we could keep up with and experiencing some server
issues as a result — until they stepped in. Nowadays, we never have
any significant issues with our server at all and the Site5 team
offers us fantastic support essentially 24/7/365. They are definitely
an All-Star hosting company that will keep your site in the game.
Site5 has the FanSided Network stamp of approval and is our

Site5 was founded and 1999 and
offers web hosting,
