Lyndsey Fry Of Chandler On The USA Women’s Hockey National Team

Thursday, November 1, 2012, the USA Women’s Hockey National Team spent time visiting the children at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. As the team gets ready to fly to Finland and repeat as champion of the Four Nations tournament (USA, Canada, Sweden, and Finland), they took time to go and see sick children. From the Four Nations website:

“To be able to come and boost the spirits of the kids, to see them smile, have a good day, and enjoy the little things with everything they are going through is really inspiring,” said 2010 Olympian Meghan Duggan.  “We come to camp and think about being strong for testing and on-ice practice and these children are basically all strength all the time; it really puts things into perspective.  It was a great experience and we hope to make more visits in the future.”

Lyndsey Fry, Chandler native and current member of Harvard University Women’s Hockey Team, is taking part in her first Four Nations Tournament. She is the first Arizona native to take part in the Four Nations. As a member of the U22 national squad, Lyndsey was selected to join this elite team and represent her country. Part of her hockey resume includes the following:

  • Played in two International Ice Hockey Federation World Women’s U18 Championships winning gold in 2009 and silver in 2010
  • Four-time USA Hockey Player Development Camp attendee from 2006 to 2009
  • USA Hockey National Championships U16 overall skills champion in 2008
  • Sister to AAA U18 Jr. Coyote Wes Fry

Reagan  Carey, director of women’s hockey for USA Hockey said it best“Part of our team mantra is that we are part of something bigger than ourselves,” As you represent your country in international competition, or you meet children fighting life threatening sickness, you understand that statement.

We at Howlin’ Hockey will be following the team and wish them the best of luck as they bring back gold. I’ve be providing updates courtesy of the USA Hockey site and you can follow along here. http://www.usahockey.com/Four_Nations.aspx
