Who’s in Net:
With two talented goalies, the Blues will allow them both to shine in net. Jake Allen and Brian Elliot will show why having two goalies who you can rely upon is so vital when you get to the playoffs.
Quick thoughts about the Blues:
- Vladimir Tarasenko, their 23-year old phenom was signed to an eight-year, $60 million contract that was a super bargain. Well, that is if you’re balance sheet looks like Donald Trumps’.
- They showed why they were a playoff team by being in the top five in both offense and defense. The down side is they lost T.J. Oshie, a fan favorite and Barett Jackman. Will they sting them?
- Not sure that Coach Ken Hitchcock will be around if they don’t advance further than they have the last two seasons. If the coach can’t get his message across, it usually means he’s gone.
Why the Blues will win the Stanley Cup:
They are a quality team, but over the last couple seasons have shown that winning during the regular season doesn’t help them in the playoffs. They need to follow through. Will their goaltending be adequate? Will they fail once again when it counts?
Why the Blues won’t win the Stanley Cup:
When you mix all the ingredients into a winning team, there seems to be a missing ingredient in this team’s makeup. Maybe to get them jump started, it’s time to let Hitchcock go, and look for a new coach. Just a thought.
Three Things We Like About You:
- This isn’t easy…since you murdered us not once, but TWICE on our home ice, 6-0, and 6-1. OUCH…
- We like the mid-west atmosphere, real down home kinda feel.
- You can’t be all that bad, I mean you did take Keith Tkachuk’s huge contract off our hands.
Three Things We Don’t Like About You:
- Ryan Reaves should get an Oscar for the way he pulled out his tooth last season against the Blackhawks.
- If you’ve been in the NHL since 1967 and haven’t yet won the Cup, why do you keep talking smack that you will?
- So we’re a little tired of the way you dominated us last season. We gotta change that this year. Don’t take us for granted, we will show up for out three games this year, you had better be ready.
Prediction:
You’ll make the playoffs, you have lots of talent, and still have David Backes, whom we should have traded for, but didn’t. You’ll either get past the Blackhawks, or you will fail again in your quest for the Cup. We think the latter. Sorry… time to sing the blues, BLUES.
