LW. Arizona Coyotes. JORDAN MARTINOOK. B.

If someone is keeping an up-to-date tally of players who play harder than Jordan Martinook on a nightly basis, I’d love to see how many nights he’s been outworked and who he was outworked by.

It can’t have been too many.

More from Coyotes News

Martinook entered camp and was suddenly thrust into the consciousness of Arizona Coyotes fans when Dave Tippett was asked about budding star forward Anthony Duclair’s play. His response wasn’t about Duclair, however, but about Martinook.

“You watch him practice every day. He plays fast and makes good plays,” Tippett said. “He’s a player that is very determined right now to make our team and he’s noticeable out there.”

For Dave Tippett, a coach who values that hard work and tenacity highly, to pointedly remark on Martinook’s play you best believe he saw a spark in #48.

Jordan has five goals and 11 assists for 16 points this season, providing a decent amount of secondary scoring and a lot of hustle.

And 48 games into his first NHL season, Martinook has not disappointed his coach. He’s also shown some flashes of his own offensive brilliance.

Jordan Martinook has had the odd bad game, but the thing with this rookie is that even his bad nights feature a plethora of hard work and effort.

He’s been a great addition to the Coyotes, and perhaps he can replicate the offensive growth that Tobias Rieder has shown in his second season next year.
