Arizona Coyotes Cast As Star Wars Heroes And Villains

The Original Trilogy Heroes

We fell in love with the Original Trilogy of Star Wars and the protagonists that George Lucas presented us. There’s a few Coyotes players and personnel who fit the bill of the heroes of our youth:

Oliver Ekman-Larsson as Luke Skywalker

A young man dreams of becoming a pilot. A young defenseman dreams of winning a Stanley Cup. Innately gifted with an immense amount of talent, Luke Skywalker became the catalyst and ultimate weapon in the fight against the Dark Side. Oliver Ekman-Larsson is the centerpiece of a franchise that is building it’s way towards a Stanley Cup.

Shane Doan as Han Solo

His friends love him. His enemies really hate him. He’s Han Solo, and no Arizona Coyotes player embodies the role of lovable scoundrel more than Shane Doan. Like Solo, Doan could charm you with his wit and his smile, and when necessary he’ll roll up the sleeves and do whatever is needed to secure a win for the good guys.

Connor Murphy As Chewbacca

Okay, he’s not there yet, but you could totally see that red haired youngster becoming a force on the boards throughout the 2015-16 season, right? Can Connor Murphy do the Chewbacca roar?

Dave Tippett as Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Jedi Master himself. Dave Tippett is the wit and wisdom behind the Coyotes bench, much like Obi-Wan was the original guide for Luke Skywalker. Like Obi-Wan, Tipp has had to go into hiding (aka rebuilding) to wait for the right time to strike out at the Dark Side and the Empire. That time is rapidly approaching.

Tobias Rieder as Leia Organa

Leia’s rescuers were quite surprised when she wasn’t a typical damsel in distress. Fans and the organization were surprised when Tobias Rieder emerged out of thin air as a hard-working, vital cog of the Arizona Coyotes. Like Leia, Rieder is fierce. Perhaps he shares some of the same leadership traits as General Organa, as well.
