The Arizona Coyotes have another chance to get back on track tonight, this time against the Minnesota Wild. That and more in today’s Morning Howl Report!

The Arizona Coyotes have not had the best last two games. They lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Calgary Flames. However, the team does have some good news. Young forward Barrett Hayton will remain with the team. (The Athletic)

Arizona will gauge their playoff readiness during the month of November. The Coyotes have a long season ahead of them, however how ready they are for the playoffs can be shown this month. The ‘Yotes have a number of back to backs and other sets of 3 games in 4 days during November. It is the most trying month of the year, so if they get through this they can make the playoffs! Nick Schmaltz has grown a lot this year as a player. He currently leads the team with 14 points, including 10 assists. The young Coyotes player has been everything the Coyotes have asked for and more during the season, and it is why he has been one of the most shocking players of the season. (Arizona Sports)

Not like Nick Schmaltz, there is one Coyotes player that needs to play better. Phil Kessel was brought to Arizona to score goals, and so far he really has not been doing it too much. There are a number of reasons Kessel’s numbers may drop this year, but they need him to be better. Kessel only has 3 goals so far this season, maybe head coach Rick Tocchet can help turn things around. We recently highlighted the coach’s journey to the desert. (Howlin’ Hockey)

Game Preview

The Arizona Coyotes are facing off against the Wild tonight at home. I would say that tonight should be an easy win tonight for the ‘Yotes but I also thought the same thing about Columbus on Thursday.

Minnesota is not the strongest team in the NHL, they currently have a record of 5-10-1 putting them in last in the central division. The Wild are led by Eric Staal who has 14 points through the first 16 games of the season. Hardly anyone on the roster is a positive in the plus-minus department, not even Stall. Despite leading the team with 14 points stall is a -9 for plus-minus. The Coyotes need to take advantage of a weak defensive team like Minnesota and beat them up and down the ice all night.
